Be miserable on a comfy mattress

If you are miserable, at least have a comfy mattress. Humans probably spend around 7-9 hours a day in bed. Whatever you save on, don't scrimp on a mattress. A good mattress means you can at least lie in comfort. I wouldn't say you need to buy top of the range (though perhaps it's worth considering) but it's unlikely a 'cheap' mattress is what you deserve. Probably around the mid-range would be a good starting point.

I bought an IKEA Hovag pocket-sprung mattress. This is regarded a 'mid-range' at a decent price. I bought the 'firm' and will use a memory foam mattress topper for 'padding'. My old mattress was cheap and I had a back injury 6 years ago which never healed on my old (open coil) mattress but now has healed within a week on the new Hovag. Personally I would suggest a luxury pocket sprung mattress but there are a few types of mattresses, with memory foam seeming to be the most popular now. I am no mattress expert though.

So, if you are miserable, depressed, at least make sure you have a luxury mattress to lie on. You deserve it.
